Introduction: This is a summary of the Freedom of Information requests involving the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsmen submitted via the What Do They Know website that may be of interest to Public Service and Local Government Ombudsman Watchers.  If you submit a freedom of information request and it involves the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman please let us know and we will add it to this page. Freedom of Information Requests to the Office of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman:  Please provide the following information for the current business year: 1. Number of FOI requests made to OPHSO. 2. Average number of working days to provide information /response. 3. Number of complaints received arising from OPHSO handling of FOI requests. 4. Number of requests to review initial decision. 5. Average number of working days to complete review. 6. Number of FOI requests referred to Information Commissioner. 7. Average number of working days to close an FOI request (including initial response, review and ICO investigations).

PHSO response: Please find attached the response to your information request which was sent on 11 April 2008 to the e-mail address we have previously used in correspondence with you and by post to your home address. I apologise for the oversight in not providing the response to the address through which the request was made.


Code of Conduct: In the document identifying the management arrangements for the Commission for Local Administration England (CLAE) it states in paragraphs: 6.2 The fourth Commissioner, the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration, has no personal responsibilities beyond his or her participation in the collective decision‑taking of the Commission.  6.3 The four Commissioners have agreed to be bound by the Commission's 'Code of Conduct for Commission Members' which is based on current Government guidance to members of NDPBs. There is no Code of Conduct available from either the CLAE Website or that of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. Please would you provide a copy of the document that relates to the Work of the PHSO. Would you additionally forward any documentation containing identification of breaches of the Code by members of the CLAE.

PHSO response: Further to your request for the Code of Conduct for Commission Members made by e-mail on 27 July 2008, this e-mail constitutes my response to your request under the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
